Module 2 -Email Tutorial

Today i did the email tutorial and clicked on the link (http://gateway.lib.ohio-state.edu/tutor/les9/). There were 6 topics on "E-Mail Basics" and a pop quiz question and the end on each topic.

1. Addresses:
Q - Which of the following elements must be included in an email address?
A - E-mail addresses always include the username (or account) as well as the domain name of the computer(s) that provide mail services.

2. Messages:
Q - To check for new e-mail, you must?
A - You must provide your password to check e-mail. Your e-mail address is not needed for this task. The POP mail server address was provided when you configured your e-mail program.

3. Attaching Files:
Q - If you don't know what kind of computer or software your recipient has, send an attachment as?
A - A plain text (ASCII) file can be read by anyone, regardless of what type of computer (PC or Macintosh) or software they have.

4. Managing Your E-Mail:
Q - You can transfer messages to another mailbox (in Eudora) by?
A - Both. Use the Transfer menu to file messages as you read them, or set up a filter to place certain messages into a special mailbox automatically.

5. Signatures
Q - To disable your signature file?
A - Both techniques work. You can turn signatures off in the program's Options or delete it from individual messages in both Eudora and Outlook Express.

6. Mail Etiquette
Q - "Flames" are?
A - 'Flames' are remarks that provoke arguments or anger. They can be avoided by taking a careful look at your message before it is sent.
